(09:00 AM - 12:30 PM)
Pacific Time (GMT-8)

Raul Almazar

Trauma Informed Care (TIC) has become widely taught, understood and in many places applied. In this webinar, we will explore the expanded definition and understanding of TIC. Understand the implications to rehabilitation, implications for practitioners and organizations. We will explore the importance of Organizational Wellness for the whole organization including implications for recruitment and retention of the workforce. We will also look at the concept of community trauma and healing. Lastly, we will explore the concept of “Making Space” to hold hope and facilitate healing.

Goals: Participants will be able to apply a more expanded approach to trauma informed care in their work with individuals living with mental health challenges.
Objectives: By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to
1. Differentiate between traditional trauma informed care practices and an expanded approach.
2. Provide an example of community trauma and what can assist healing.
3. Describe the relationship between organizational wellness and impact staff retention.
4. Describe how "making space" through psychosocial interventions deepens hope and facilitates healing.
